I decided to make two blog posts to separate both job stories. I love my current job so I'm not going to give away the business name but what I can tell you is that the store sells mostly shoes.
Let's see where do I begin....
At this job, I wasn't on the cash register as much as my first job, Ross, so majority of what happened here was while I was walking around the store. While picking up trash the craziest items that I've found were a pile of peeled fake nails and a drug of some sort. Of course, there's the gross chewed gum but nothing I've mentioned so far is as bad as finding blood on benches or shoe boxes.
Moreover, something happened to me recently that just really bothers me. While I was in my section of the aisles, aligning the displayed shoes, I had stopped to organize some shoe boxes underneath a display a little boy around the age of 7 hit and caressed my butt. Here's the more interesting part the kid's dad was behind him and didn't even say anything! My first initial thought was that it was the dad touching me but to turn around and find out it was a kid and the dad watched is just not acceptable. I did look at them as they continued on their merry way to see if the dad would scold him or something privately or I might receive a delayed apology but no, I didn't. To those wondering why didn't I say something just know that I thought about it but I hate being confrontational especially at work.
Comment your thoughts below. What would you have done? Do you think the little boy should have been scolded? Any stories that are work related you would like to share?
I totally agree with that.
I would've said nicely to the little boy "hey buddy, it's not appropriate to touch people there, ok?" If the Dad doesn't want to teach, there's no rule saying others can't. The Dad was a creep!
